All Details

I am the world’s most famous commercial mango variety, widely recognized for my stunning appearance and my incredible ability to stay fresh for a long time. I produce medium-to-large, oval fruits with a tough, smooth skin that is covered in a brilliant dark red blush with accents of orange and yellow. My flesh is firm, deep golden-yellow, and carries a mild, classic sweetness.

I am a highly productive and sturdy mango variety known for my exceptional "shelf life" and my beautiful, multi-colored skin that makes me a centerpiece of any fruit bowl.

I originated in Florida in the early 1920s as a seedling of the Haden variety and eventually became the most widely planted commercial mango in the world.

I am quite hardy and drought-tolerant once established, but I still appreciate regular watering during my flowering and fruit-set stages to ensure a heavy crop.

I require full, direct sunlight for at least 8 hours a day to develop my intense red color and to help my fruit reach its full flavor potential.

I thrive in warm, tropical, and subtropical climates between 22°C and 36°C and am more resistant to fluctuating weather than many delicate gourmet varieties.

I have a vigorous, dense, and rounded growth habit; I need plenty of space in the garden and prefer deep, well-draining soil to support my heavy branches.

I enjoy a balanced organic fertilizer in early spring and benefit from occasional micronutrient sprays to keep my foliage deep green and healthy.

My scientific name is Mangifera indica 'Tommy Atkins' and I belong to the Anacardiaceae family.

My fruit is safe for pets in moderation, but my thick skin and large pit should be removed, and pets should avoid contact with my milky sap.

My large, dense canopy is excellent for filtering dust and absorbing CO2, providing a clean and cool microclimate in your garden.

I am rich in Vitamin C and fiber, and because my skin is so thick, I am much less prone to bruising or damage during handling than other mangoes.

I am highly resistant to anthracnose and powdery mildew, though I can be somewhat fibrous if I am picked too late or grown in poor soil.

I am a very long-lived and resilient perennial tree that can continue to produce heavy, beautiful harvests for 50 years or more.
