I am an elite, high-quality hybrid mango variety, often described as the "Golden Fairy" of the mango world. I produce medium-to-large fruits with a stunning golden-yellow skin and a deep, saffron-colored flesh. My flavor is a world-class masterpiece, combining the rich, legendary aroma of the Alphonso with the intense, honey-like sweetness and fiberless texture of the Kesar.
I am a premium hybrid variety specifically bred to be superior to both my parents, offering a larger fruit size, better shelf life, and a complete absence of the "spongy tissue" disorder that often affects Alphonso.
I was developed by the Navsari Agricultural University (NAU) in Gujarat, India, by crossing the world-famous Alphonso and Kesar mangoes.
I require deep and regular watering during my early growth and fruit-setting stages, but I prefer my soil to be kept relatively dry as my fruit begins to ripen to enhance my flavor.
I need full, direct sunlight for at least 8 to 10 hours a day to develop my rich golden color and to maximize my high sugar content.
I thrive in warm, tropical, and subtropical climates between 24°C and 38°C and am well-adapted to the hot, humid conditions of coastal and inland India.
I have a moderately vigorous growth habit and prefer deep, well-draining loamy soil where my roots can establish a strong foundation to support my heavy crops.
I am a heavy feeder; I respond exceptionally well to organic compost, oil cakes (like castor or neem), and a potassium-rich fertilizer during the fruit-development phase.
My scientific name is Mangifera indica 'Sonapari' and I belong to the Anacardiaceae family.
My golden flesh is a safe and healthy treat for pets, but my sap, leaves, and pit contain natural irritants and should be kept away from them.
My dense, lush evergreen canopy is highly efficient at filtering air pollutants and providing cooling shade, making me an asset to any garden environment.
I am a nutritional powerhouse rich in Vitamin A, Beta-carotene, and antioxidants, and I am considered one of the best varieties for premium gifting and export.
I am much more resistant to common physiological disorders than Alphonso, but I should still be monitored for mango hoppers and powdery mildew during the flowering season.
I am a sturdy and long-lived perennial tree that can provide you with "royal" quality harvests for 40 to 60 years with proper care.
