I am a rare and cherished heritage mango variety from Gujarat, often described as the "hidden gem" of the region. I produce medium-to-large fruits with a smooth, greenish-yellow skin. My flesh is a deep, rich orange, remarkably fiberless, and possesses a distinct, sophisticated sweetness with a lingering floral aroma that sets me apart from more common varieties.
I am a high-quality dessert mango known for my refined flavor profile, juicy consistency, and the intense, almost spicy fragrance of my ripening fruit.
I originated in the Gondal and Jetpur regions of Gujarat, India, where I have been cultivated by selective growers for my superior taste for many decades.
I prefer consistent and deep watering during the flowering and fruit-development stages, but I thrive best when the soil is allowed to dry slightly between waterings to prevent root issues.
I require full, direct sunlight for at least 8 to 10 hours a day to develop my high sugar concentration and the characteristic deep orange color of my pulp.
I love hot, arid to semi-arid tropical climates between 25°C and 42°C and am very well-adapted to the intense heat and dry winds of Western India.
I grow into a medium-to-large tree with a sturdy trunk; I prefer well-draining, fertile loamy soil with plenty of space for my canopy to expand.
I respond very well to traditional organic feeding, such as well-rotted cow manure and oil cakes, supplemented with balanced nutrients just before the flowering season.
My scientific name is Mangifera indica 'Jamadar' and I belong to the Anacardiaceae family.
My fruit flesh is safe for pets in small amounts, but keep them away from my leaves and milky sap, which contain natural irritants that can cause skin or mouth discomfort.
My dense, evergreen foliage is highly effective at filtering dust and carbon dioxide, creating a cleaner and cooler environment in your orchard or garden.
I am an excellent source of antioxidants and Vitamin A, and because of my unique flavor, I am a prized "connoisseur’s choice" for those who appreciate rare mango cultivars.
I should be monitored for mango hoppers during the blooming phase and require good air circulation to prevent powdery mildew in the early spring.
I am a long-lived and resilient perennial tree that can continue to provide high-quality, boutique harvests for 40 to 60 years or more.
