I am a legendary miniature mango, often hailed as the "Fragrance Queen" of the mango world. Though I am small in size, I possess an intensity of flavor and aroma that can outshine even the largest cultivars. I produce small, oval fruits with a thin, pale green skin that turns slightly yellowish when ripe. My flesh is a deep orange, exceptionally sweet, and completely fiberless, offering a rich, musky scent that is truly intoxicating.
I am a boutique, high-sugar mango variety prized by connoisseurs for my concentrated flavor and the fact that a single fruit can perfume an entire room.
I originated in the village of Ratol in Uttar Pradesh, India, and I am famously at the center of a "mango diplomacy" tug-of-war between India and Pakistan (where I am known as Anwar Ratol).
I prefer moderate but consistent watering; over-watering during the ripening stage can dilute my intense sugars, so I like my soil to be well-drained.
I need full, direct sunlight for 8 to 10 hours a day; the intense sun helps me develop the high Brix (sugar) levels that I am famous for.
I thrive in the hot, dry summers of the Indo-Gangetic plains, performing best in temperatures between 25°C and 42°C.
I grow into a medium-sized tree with a somewhat delicate frame compared to giants like Langra; I prefer deep, fertile, alluvial soil with plenty of organic matter.
I respond best to traditional organic fertilizers like well-rotted cow manure and neem cake, which help maintain the complexity of my unique aroma.
My scientific name is Mangifera indica 'Ratol' and I belong to the Anacardiaceae family.
My flesh is safe for pets, but because I am so small, my pit is relatively large in proportion to my size—ensure it is never swallowed by animals.
My evergreen foliage is dense and provides a constant supply of oxygen while acting as a natural windbreak and dust filter for your garden.
I am an elite "table mango," meaning I am best enjoyed fresh and whole; I am rich in Vitamin A and provide a quick, natural energy boost due to my high sugar content.
I can be a "shy bearer" (producing smaller crops in some years), and I require protection from mango hoppers during my fragrant flowering season.
I am a sturdy perennial tree that can continue to produce my "scented gold" harvests for 40 to 60 years.
