I am a premium, attractive hybrid mango variety, widely celebrated for my excellent quality and freedom from common physiological disorders. I produce medium-sized, oval fruits that weigh between 200g and 250g. My skin is a smooth, enticing yellow with a distinct red blush on the shoulders. My flesh is a deep, glowing orange, completely fiberless, and offers a delightful blend of sweetness and acidity with a mild, pleasant aroma.
I am a high-yielding, regular-bearing hybrid prized for my high pulp content (about 70%) and my excellent shelf life, making me a favorite for both home gardens and commercial export.
I was developed by the Indian Institute of Horticultural Research (IIHR) in Bangalore, created by crossing the legendary Alphonso with the prolific Banganapalli.
I need regular and deep watering during my flowering and fruit-setting stages, but I prefer well-drained soil to prevent root issues and ensure the best fruit quality.
I thrive in full, direct sunlight for at least 8 to 10 hours a day; this intense light is crucial for me to develop my signature red blush and high sugar levels.
I love warm, tropical to subtropical climates between 24°C and 38°C and am perfectly adapted to the varied growing conditions of Southern and Central India.
I have a moderately vigorous growth habit and prefer deep, fertile, well-draining loamy soil where my roots can establish a strong foundation for heavy harvests.
I respond very well to organic manures and balanced NPK fertilizers; a boost of potassium in the early spring helps me produce fruits with better color and sweetness.
My scientific name is Mangifera indica 'Arka Puneet' and I belong to the Anacardiaceae family.
My fruit flesh is a safe and healthy treat for pets, but my sap, leaves, and pit contain natural irritants and should be kept out of their reach.
My dense, evergreen foliage acts as a natural air filter, providing oxygen and cooling shade, making me a beautiful and functional addition to any landscape.
I am a nutritional powerhouse rich in Vitamin A and antioxidants, and unlike my parent Alphonso, I am remarkably resistant to "spongy tissue" disorder.
I am generally more resilient than many traditional varieties, but I should be monitored for mango hoppers and protected from heavy rains during my ripening phase.
I am a sturdy and reliable perennial tree that can continue to provide you with gourmet-quality harvests for 40 to 60 years or more.
