I am a delightful and exotic variety, often nicknamed the "Coconut Mango" because of my unique, tropical flavor profile that carries distinct, creamy notes of coconut. I produce large, rounded, heart-shaped fruits with a smooth, greenish-yellow skin that sometimes develops a soft red blush. My flesh is a vibrant orange, buttery, and completely fiberless, offering a rich sweetness that makes me feel like a "vacation in a fruit."
I am a specialty mango variety prized for my unique "creamy coconut" aftertaste and my exceptionally smooth, melt-in-the-mouth texture.
While many "Coconut Mangoes" (like the Bourbon or Bauno) have roots in Southeast Asia or the Caribbean, I am most famously associated with Florida’s specialty selections (like the Coconut Cream) and certain cultivars in Central America.
I prefer regular, deep watering while my fruit is developing to support my large size, but I need well-draining soil to prevent "wet feet" and ensure my flavor remains concentrated.
I am a sun-lover; I need full, direct sunlight for at least 8 to 10 hours a day to develop my high sugar content and my signature tropical aroma.
I thrive in consistently warm, humid tropical climates between 25°C and 38°C and am quite sensitive to cold or frost.
I grow into a medium-to-large tree with a beautiful, rounded canopy; I prefer sandy or loamy, well-draining soil that mimics my native tropical coastal environments.
I respond beautifully to organic compost and balanced tropical fruit fertilizers; a boost of magnesium and potassium helps enhance my unique creamy flavor.
My scientific name is Mangifera indica (often the 'Coconut Cream' cultivar) and I belong to the Anacardiaceae family.
My creamy flesh is safe for pets in moderation, but my sap and leaves contain natural irritants, and my large stone is a major choking hazard.
My broad, evergreen leaves are excellent at filtering the air and providing deep, cooling shade, creating a lush tropical feel in any garden.
I am an excellent source of Vitamin A, C, and dietary fiber, and I am considered one of the best "boutique" mangoes for fresh eating and tropical desserts.
I can be susceptible to anthracnose in very humid or rainy spells, so I benefit from a sunny spot with good air circulation to keep my fruit clean.
I am a sturdy and long-lived perennial tree that can provide you with exotic, coconut-scented harvests for 40 to 60 years or more.
