I am Black Guava, the midnight jewel of the orchard. My skin is dark as dusk, my pulp rich and red, and my nutrients unmatched. I grow with strength, fruit with flair, and bring bold color to every harvest.
I am a rare guava variety with black skin and red pulp, rich in antioxidants.
Developed by Bihar Agricultural University; first cultivated in Bhagalpur, India.
Water 2–3 times per week; prefers consistent moisture.
Requires full sun (6–8 hours daily).
Thrives in 25–38°C; tolerates dry heat.
Plant in well-drained loamy soil; spacing 4–6 meters apart.
Apply compost and NPK 8:10:10 every 2–3 months; supplement with zinc and boron.
Botanical name: Psidium guajava 'Nigrum'; Family: Myrtaceae.
Fruits are safe; seeds edible but firm.
Moderate; dense foliage reduces dust.
Fruits rich in vitamin A, B, C, calcium, iron, and antioxidants; used fresh, in juices, and traditional medicine.
Susceptible to fruit fly and anthracnose; prune for airflow and monitor regularly.
Can live 25–40 years; starts fruiting in 2–3 years; peak yield from year 6 onward.
