Kesudo is a medium-sized deciduous tree famous for its bright orange-red flowers that bloom in summer. It is known as the “Flame of the Forest” and is culturally important in India.
I am a beautiful tree known for my bright orange and red flowers that make forests look like they are on fire during flowering season.
I originate from the Indian subcontinent and grow naturally in dry and tropical regions.
I need moderate watering when young, but once established I survive well with low water.
I grow best in full sunlight and open outdoor locations.
I prefer warm climates between 22°C to 40°C and can tolerate heat well.
I should be planted in open soil with good drainage and enough space for my wide canopy.
I grow well with organic manure, compost, or farmyard fertilizer added occasionally.
My botanical name is Butea monosperma and I belong to the Fabaceae family.
I am generally safe, but my flowers and seeds should not be consumed by pets.
I help improve air quality and support a healthy environment.
I provide medicinal uses, natural dye, cultural value, and attract birds and pollinators.
I am mostly pest-resistant but may face minor insect attacks in humid weather.
I can live for several decades and bloom beautifully every year.
