I am Plum, the orchard’s colorful gem. My smooth-skinned fruits burst with juicy sweetness and tang, loved fresh or dried. I thrive in temperate climates, offering families a seasonal delicacy and farmers a versatile crop.

I am a temperate fruit tree producing juicy, sweet-tart plums.

Native to Europe, Asia, and America; cultivated worldwide.

Water weekly; keep soil moist but well-drained.

Requires full sun (6–8 hours daily).

Thrives in 15–30°C; requires winter chilling hours.

Plant in sandy-loam soil; spacing 4–5 meters apart.

Apply compost and NPK 8:10:10 every 2–3 months.

Botanical name: Prunus domestica (European plum), Prunus salicina (Japanese plum); Family: Rosaceae.

Fruits are safe; seeds contain amygdalin (avoid eating).

Moderate; leafy canopy reduces dust.

Fruits rich in vitamin C, potassium, and antioxidants; eaten fresh, dried (prunes), or processed.

Susceptible to plum curculio, aphids, and brown rot; prune for airflow and monitor regularly.

Can live 15–20 years; starts fruiting in 3–4 years; peak yield from year 7 onward.
