Shikakai is a natural medicinal shrub widely known for its pods used as a herbal shampoo and hair cleanser.
I am a thorny shrub known for my natural hair-cleansing pods that gently clean and strengthen hair.
I originate from India and have been used in Ayurveda for hair and scalp care for hundreds of years.
I need moderate watering and prefer soil that is moist but not waterlogged.
I grow best in full sunlight and can tolerate partial shade.
I prefer warm climates between 20°C to 40°C and grow well in tropical and semi-arid regions.
I grow well in open soil with good drainage and enough sunlight for healthy pod formation.
I respond well to organic compost or cow dung manure applied once or twice a year.
My botanical name is Acacia concinna and I belong to the Fabaceae family.
I am generally safe, but my pods should not be consumed by pets.
I help improve the local environment by adding greenery and supporting soil health.
My pods are used as a natural shampoo, hair growth booster, anti-dandruff remedy, and mild skin cleanser.
I am hardy, but poor drainage or overwatering may slow my growth.
I can live for many years and continue producing pods once mature.
