I am Balsundari Bor, the village’s sweet jujube. My round fruits are crisp and tangy-sweet, loved fresh or dried. I thrive in dry climates, offering families a seasonal treat and farmers a hardy orchard tree.

I am a jujube cultivar producing medium-sized sweet fruits.

Native to India; widely grown in Gujarat, Rajasthan, and Maharashtra.

Minimal; drought-tolerant once mature.

Requires full sun.

Thrives in 25–40°C; tolerates arid heat.

Plant in sandy-loam soil; spacing 6–8 meters apart.

Apply compost annually; minimal fertilizer needed.

Botanical name: Ziziphus mauritiana; Variety: Balsundari Bor; Family: Rhamnaceae.

Fruits safe for humans; seeds hard.

Fruits rich in vitamin C, iron, and antioxidants; eaten fresh, dried, or pickled.

Susceptible to fruit fly and powdery mildew; generally hardy.
