I am Lakshman Phal, the spiky tropical fruit. My green, thorny shell hides soft white pulp, tangy and sweet. I thrive in warm climates, offering families a refreshing fruit and farmers a niche orchard crop.
I am a tropical fruit tree producing large spiky fruits.
Native to South America; cultivated in India, Sri Lanka, and Southeast Asia.
Water every 3–4 days; prefers moist soil.
Requires full sun.
Thrives in 25–35°C; sensitive to frost.
Plant in sandy-loam soil; spacing 4–5 meters apart.
Apply compost and NPK 8:10:10 every 2–3 months; supplement with calcium for fruit set.
Botanical name: Annona muricata; Family: Annonaceae.
Fruits safe for humans; seeds toxic if chewed.
Fruits rich in vitamin C, fiber, and antioxidants; pulp used in juices, ice creams, and folk medicine.
Susceptible to fruit borer, anthracnose, and root rot; requires careful pest management.
