I am a specialized and highly improved selection of the legendary Kesar mango, often referred to as the "Saffron Queen" of the new era. I produce medium-to-large, oblong fruits with a distinct curved tip. My skin is a smooth, dull green that transforms into a radiant golden-yellow when ripe. My flesh is my greatest pride—a deep, intense saffron-orange that is completely fiberless, incredibly sweet, and carries a potent, intoxicating aroma that is even more pronounced than the traditional Kesar.
I am a "super-selection" of the Kesar variety, prized for my larger fruit size, higher sugar content (Brix), and more consistent bearing habit compared to the standard Gir Kesar.
I am a refined selection originating from the Junagadh and Amreli regions of Gujarat, India, developed to enhance the commercial and gourmet qualities of the original Kesar heritage.
I prefer deep, periodic watering during fruit development, but I require a strict dry spell in the winter to ensure a heavy and uniform flowering season.
I am a sun-worshipper; I need 8 to 10 hours of direct, blazing sunlight to develop my high sugar levels and that iconic deep saffron internal color.
I thrive in hot, arid to semi-arid climates between 25°C and 42°C and am exceptionally resilient to the dry, scorching winds of Western India.
I grow into a sturdy, medium-sized tree and perform best in well-draining, limy or loamy soils; I am an excellent candidate for ultra-high-density planting (UHDP).
I am a moderate feeder; I respond beautifully to organic inputs like castor cake and vermicompost, supplemented with potash to enhance my fruit's sweetness and shelf life.
My scientific name is Mangifera indica 'Kesar 1818' and I belong to the Anacardiaceae family.
My flesh is a safe, antioxidant-rich treat for pets, but my sap is acidic and can irritate their skin; always keep the seed away from them.
My dense, leathery evergreen leaves are excellent at sequestering carbon and acting as a natural dust filter in dry, windy environments.
I am one of the best mangoes for "Aamras" and pulp because of my intense color and lack of fiber; I also have a better shelf life than the Alphonso, making me great for shipping.
I am generally hardy but should be monitored for thrips during flowering and "fruit drop" if watering is inconsistent during the peak of summer.
I am a robust and long-lived perennial tree that can continue to provide high-value, saffron-hued harvests for 50 to 70 years.
