I am a legendary heritage mango from West Bengal, often hailed as one of the most sophisticated and "royal" varieties of the East. I produce medium-to-large, roundish fruits with a smooth, thick skin that remains a distinctive pale green even when I am fully ripe. My flesh is a beautiful lemon-yellow, remarkably firm yet melting, and completely fiberless, offering a refined, honey-like sweetness with a complex, lingering floral aroma.
I am a connoisseur’s delight, prized for my high pulp content, small seed, and a "clean" sweetness that lacks the heavy acidity found in other varieties.
I originated in the Murshidabad district of West Bengal, India, where I was famously patronized by the Nawabs and local royalty for centuries.
I prefer consistent and moderate watering; I am sensitive to waterlogging, so my soil must be well-drained to ensure my delicate flavor profile isn't diluted.
I require full, direct sunlight for 8 to 10 hours a day to build the high sugar concentration that makes my "Bhog" (offering) worthy of its name.
I thrive in the warm, humid subtropical climate of the Indo-Gangetic plains, preferring temperatures between 24°C and 38°C.
I grow into a large, majestic tree with a spreading, dome-shaped canopy; I perform best in deep, fertile alluvial soil rich in organic matter.
I am a traditionalist; I respond best to organic farmyard manure and bone meal, which help maintain the structural integrity and sweetness of my fruit.
My scientific name is Mangifera indica 'Kishan Bhog' and I belong to the Anacardiaceae family.
My fruit flesh is a safe treat for pets, but like all mangoes, my leaves and milky sap contain irritants, and my pit should be kept far away from them.
My massive, dense evergreen canopy is a powerhouse of oxygen production and provides deep, cooling shade that can lower local temperatures significantly.
I am an excellent source of Vitamin A and C, and because my flesh is firm, I am one of the best heritage varieties for slicing and serving as a premium table fruit.
I am known to be a "mid-season" bearer and can be susceptible to mango hoppers during the flowering stage, requiring careful organic monitoring.
I am a very long-lived perennial tree, often remaining productive and providing "regal" harvests for 60 to 80 years or more.
