I am the Tarrmariya Tree, also known as Tree Turmeric or Daruharidra. I’m a woody climber with bright yellow stems and heart-shaped leaves, treasured in traditional medicine for my anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial powers. I grow in the shaded forests of the Western Ghats and am used to treat skin issues, digestive disorders, and infections. I’m rare, potent, and deeply rooted in healing traditions.
I am a medicinal woody climber with yellow stems, used in Ayurveda for skin and digestive health.
Native to the Western Ghats and parts of Southeast Asia.
Water moderately; prefers moist, shaded environments.
Thrives in partial to full shade.
Prefers warm, humid climates between 20–30°C.
Grow in rich, well-drained forest soil; support with a trellis or tree.
Apply compost or organic manure twice a year.
Botanical name: Coscinium fenestratum; Family: Menispermaceae.
Not recommended for pet ingestion due to potent alkaloids.
Low; primarily valued for medicinal use.
Used in Ayurveda for treating infections, wounds, ulcers, and inflammation.
Susceptible to fungal rot in overly wet soil; protect from direct sun.
Can live 10–20 years in shaded, forest-like conditions.
